TGIT: Scandal’s Mellie Grant Inspired Makeup

Yes…it is that day again. And hang in with me here because this is the second to last look in this series. I am sorry I haven’t been posting much else…I have been crazy busy in all aspects of my life, which I am thankful for, but I do have posts lined up that I need to put together. Since I slacked on this series last week, this was on the top of my list.

For my last Scandal inspired look, I chose the fictional First Lady herself, Mellie Grant played by Bellamy Young. It seems many people are divided on their feelings for Mellie, but I tend to like her! She rocks skirt suits like no one’s business, is extremely smart (kudos to the show for actually demonstrating this), and always adds that perfect OMG moment to every episode.

Mellie’s day-today White House look is perfect brown liner and brows, rosy cheeks, and a nude lip. And that big southern hair which will never work for my hair. I tried to curl it for this look and it is so baby fine it fell flat in a minute. Sigh.

While this is understated, yet pretty, I tried to add something special to the eyes to make them pop in my take on the look.

For the eyes I used:

Makeup Revolution Run Boy Run Palette ($10): The sparkly neutral shades were perfect for this look and to make my eyes look bigger.

Covergirl Ink It liner in Cocoa In Cocoa Ink ($6): I made a cat eye with this liner and smudged it slightly. I also lined my inner rim.

Stila Smudge Stick in Gilded ($22): I went over the brown line with this golden liner and it really popped and looked like a pretty foil effect. Add your fave mascara and you are good to go!

For the face, I kept things very simple with a great base, blush, and contour.

Covergirl Ready, Set, Gorgeous Foundation ($7)

Too Faced Beauty Balm (Sample Size): If you have any of these lying around…they make for a fantastic liquid contour!! I somehow have three samples from different orders.

Jason Wu for Lancome Blush (LE): Any dusty rose blush will do, but I just can’t stop reaching for this one!

I would assume that the First Lady needs a pout that lasts all day, so I chose my nude lip wisely.

Butter London Bloody Brilliant Lip Crayon in Tea With The Queen ($20): I am in love with the formula on these and this color is amazing!

If you watch Scandal, tonight is going to be a big night! If you don’t, I hope you enjoyed this look and I will leave you with another full face and my favorite Mellie quote.
