It is that time of the week again! Friday-eve, which means another installment of TGIT! I am really having a lot of fun with it, especially watching the shows each week and dissecting the characters’ makeup. (I even saw a Tom Ford lipstick on vanity of a character I will be doing in a few weeks!)
For today I was inspired by Karla Souza’s character, Laurel Castillo, who is in Annalise Keating’s law class on How To Get Away With Murder and now works for her as an associate of sorts. She started out really quiet, but is now starting to find her voice and confidence and I relate to her in that way.
Also…she rocks a hot pink lip brilliantly.
Laurel’s signature look on the show is a very bold brow, neutral eye shadow and a vibrant pink lip. This is a great look for fall and can easily transition from office to after or school to a night out…just switch out a nude lip for this bright pink!
This look didn’t take many products to achieve. Simply start with your favorite primer, foundation, and concealer and remember to prime your lids as well!
For the eyes, I kept things simply with sparkly browns and powder liner:
Essence All About Chocolates Palette ($5): I used the top three shades in this palette (highlight, lid, crease) in the marked order to create a fast and simple bronze eye.
Lorac Pro Palette ($42): I used Espresso to create a soft winged liner.
Laurel’s brows are amazing!! I went much bolder than I usually do with my brow routine and that involved two products:
Anastasia Beverly Hills DipBrow in Blonde ($18): I used a bit more than I normally do to make my brows fuller.
Rimmel Brow This Way Styling Gel in Medium Brown ($6): This gel is a little bit darker than I usually wear but it worked great for this look to put the emphasis on my brows. A little goes a long way!
To finish the look off:
The Balm Frat Boy blush ($21): I dusted this lightly on my cheeks for just a hint of color. I thought it was also appropriate, seeing as Laurel is in college.
L’Oreal Colour Riche Extraordinaire in Fuschia Orchestra ($8): This is the Lilly Pulitzer limited edition tube, but this color is permanent. One swipe across lips does the trick!
In total, the look took about ten minutes from start to finish and I think it might start to become a go-to look for me!
And just because you all know I like to be goofy, here is one more picture of the look and me channeling my inner Laurel (she tends to do the eye-brow squint a lot. Lawyers study hard and look confused about cases a lot…at least on TV). Also included is one of my favorite quotes from her from the episode where Annalise finally says her name right. Here’s to wallflowers!
Happy TGIT!
