#sorrynotsorry: 5 Beauty Things I Am NOT Apologizing For!

So, I have been seeing this tag a lot on Instagram and the Blog world, but Liesl’s post at Liesl Loves Pretty Things convinced me to do this. And I encourage you to do it as well. I tag all of you to be #sorrynotsorry!!So here are the 5 beauty related things I am definitely not apologizing for this year!1. Selfies. This is on a lot of the lists I have seen, and I try and take selfies very rarely because I don’t want to annoy anyone. And when I do post them, I feel self-conscious and shallow. But you know what? All of us really need to embrace our inner beauty and soak in the compliments—and pass them on when someone else posts a selfie. Let’s empower each other. Selfies aren’t selfish, they are self-expression!

2. Buying more makeup. Yes, I have drawers full of the stuff. I don’t need another lipstick, but blogging is my hobby and something that makes me happy and if picking up another eyeshadow is a part of that, then okay! I am not going to be sorry about it! Am I going to try and cut back—yes, but life is too short to not make yourself happy within means.3. Breaking makeup rules. Most of us that blog do this anyway, but people who don’t love makeup and nails as much as we do sometimes say hurtful things or criticize when I wear vampy lipstick during the day or I work in blue eye shadow into a look. I resolve to stop caring and keep experimenting. There are no rules to makeup!4. Not tanning. Embracing your natural skin tone is beautiful and just because I live in California and stick out among the fake-bronzed girls, I won’t harm my skin by sitting in a tanning bed or lying out without sunscreen. Nope! Sorrynotsorry.5. Not over-plucking. Yes, I tweeze my eyebrows a little bit, but its good to go with the natural shape of your brows! Don’t worry so much. And on that note, I refuse to shave the hair on my arms. I don’t get that phenomenon, and I won’t be sorry that I have hair on my arms. What are you not sorry for? photo panda-sig_zps4a356226.jpg

  1. Great responses and nice selfie Margo! I love taking selfies too lol I don't think it's shallow, I think people should take pics of themselves! I'm glad you mentioned breaking makeup rules, at some point most people do that, it's about what makes you comfortable and happy!

  3. Thank you for birthday wish and kind words on the haul post. I always check for a comment from you once I have put up a new post. 🙂 Anywho, I totally agree with everything you said up above. I like to capture pics of myself once in a while b/c I might want to look back and see how I changed over the years. I feel that for women physical aging is a sentimental process. Also, I like to see selfies on blogs showing lip colors. Yeah, blogging is my hobby and something that relaxes me, so I agree with you on not feeling sorry for buying more than the average joe. I haven't gotten too wild with colors yet, but definitely am wearing lip colors I would not have imagined a couple of years ago. Lastly, here is my confession: being a fair skin Indian girl, I went through a tanning phase in high school, except I looked awful… not at all the Bronze Goddess look I was aiming for. Also, my mom was super strict, so she didn't let me do anything with my eyebrows. I took her tweezers one day and got a lil cray cray. Totally regret it now! xxx

  5. So happy you did this post!! Not being tan is something I wont apologize for either! My skin is fair and doesn't tan, so why bother trying? And no one wants to look like an oompa loompa with fake tanner on 😉

  7. I applaud you for breaking make-up 'rules' and for not overplucking! That's a great thing! 🙂 And as for the selfies, well, I now kinda realize that I take a TON of selfies, but they're all for the blog, to show off a look. Not to show off myself… So I guess that's why I don't really see them as selfies. Does that make sense?

  9. Hear, hear on the not tanning, girlfriend!! I actually win a pasty leg contest at my work some time last year, lol. I think it's so interesting, the theme of selfies and how we've each got a different little take on them. I love your words of empowerment– it's so true and it does take courage to put a photo of yourself out there like that. I love seeing what my fellow bloggers look like, and I feel it's a very honest way of approaching the whole thing. I'm with you on breaking makeup rules. One of my favorite everyday lippies is the black cherry NARS Fast Ride and I just wore this frosty sea blue little number on my kids last week…the haters can http://www.suckit.com 😀 Also, you will not catch me dead with shaved arms. lol.
